    SEC action over UnikoinGold offering

    The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission said Unikrn’s 2019 sale of UnikoinGold involved an unregistered offering of digital assets. Unikrn settled without a determination of guilt, agreed to a $6.1 million penalty to be distributed through a Fair Fund for token holders, and undertook to disable UnikoinGold. Commissioner Hester M. Peirce publicly dissented from the Commission’s position and said the company was not alleged to have committed fraud.
