    Woburn water-contamination litigation

In the 1980s, Woburn residents sued UniFirst and two other companies, alleging that industrial pollution had entered the local water supply and contributed to increased leukemia cases. UniFirst settled before trial for $1 million. The case later became associated with A Civil Action, Jonathan Harr’s nonfiction account and its film adaptation.
