Titanium traceability and certification controversy

Media reports alleged that titanium introduced into an aircraft-parts supply chain through TAI was accompanied by falsified authenticity documents from a Chinese metals supplier. The issue affected questions about aviation-grade traceability for parts used in some Boeing and Airbus aircraft manufactured between 2019 and 2023. Testing reported by Spirit AeroSystems indicated that the titanium itself was of the appropriate grade, but the documentation and supplier-control concerns remained significant.
