XDS and Six Other Companies Recall Disc-Brake Bicycles; Front Wheel Quick-Release May Loosen and Cause Wheel Detachment

The former General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine announced that Shenzhen XDS Bicycle Co., Ltd., Merida, Bridgestone, and four other companies were recalling a total of 893,321 disc-brake bicycles, including 459,630 disc-brake bicycles produced by XDS between 2012 and 2015. The cause is that if the front wheel quick-release device is not correctly tightened, it may loosen and contact the disc, causing a sudden stop or wheel detachment and rider injury; the companies are replacing the devices with new quick-release devices free of charge. Separately, according to China Quality News, an "XDS" bicycle was judged unqualified in a 2017 Yantai spot check. Progress: official recall. Subject: Shenzhen XDS Bicycle Co., Ltd.
