Public availability of confidential translated documents
NRK reported that documents from Norwegian individuals and organizations, including internal Statoil materials, were openly accessible online after being translated through Translate.com. YLE later reported finding hundreds of confidential documents from Finnish companies, organizations, and individuals through Google searches. The reports connected the issue to license terms that reportedly allowed Translate.com to retain translated documents and publish them alongside its service.
