Torrot

Torrot was founded in Vitoria by Don Luis Iriondo in 1948, initially manufacturing bicycles. In the 1950s, it reached a license agreement to make mopeds and motorcycles for French brand Dijon-Terrot, but after Peugeot absorbed Terrot, the license ended. Don Luis then changed the name to Torrot and continued developing mopeds and lightweight motorcycles. In 2011, the brand was revived with a focus on electric vehicles, offering electric off-road motorcycles for kids and electric scooters for urban mobility.

Founded in Vitoria by Don Luis Iriondo in 1948, Torrot started manufacturing sturdy touring and road bicycles. In the 1950s, Don Luis reached a license manufacturing agreement to make mopeds and motorcycles for the French brand Dijon-Terrot, creating Terrot S.A.E. But the agreement didn't last long, and in 1958 Peugeot absorbed Terrot and shuttered it two years later, leaving Iriondo S.A. without the license. Don Luis then changed the 'e' for an 'o' to keep his family of mopeds and lightweight motorcycles afloat, developing them with an identity of their own. In the 1970s, Torrot manufactured popular motorcycles like the Mustang and the TT, powered by Sachs engines, and also started to manufacture popular bicycles like the Cross MX. In 2011, the brand was revived with a focus on electric vehicles, with the philosophy of manufacturing practical, comfortable, sturdy vehicles that make daily lives more fun and easier in terms of mobility.
