U.S. sanctions and alleged IRGC connection

On June 23, 2011, the U.S. Treasury Department sanctioned Tidewater Middle East Co. The U.S. government alleged that the company was owned by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and that Tidewater-managed ports had been used by the Iranian government to export arms or related material in violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions. The designation was followed by Maersk’s withdrawal from business with Tidewater-managed Iranian ports.
