2G licence allocation controversy
Unitech Wireless's original licences arose from the first-come, first-served allocation process later examined in India's 2G spectrum case. The Central Bureau of Investigation investigated Unitech executives and the company in relation to the controversy. The Supreme Court subsequently cancelled the relevant licences, although Telenor stated that its later investment had passed through required approval processes.
