    PFAS contamination investigations around Rumilly

PFAS contamination was detected in drinking-water resources and other environmental media around Rumilly, where Tefal has its historic industrial site. Public authorities investigated multiple potential sources, including Tefal, while the company and Groupe SEB maintained that PFOA had not been used at the site since 2012. The controversy later involved fish-consumption advice, regulatory orders, public criticism, political debate over PFAS restrictions, and a reported complaint concerning product and environmental communications.

Annecy labor-inspection and alleged influence-peddling affair

A dispute over employment-contract changes at Tefal’s operations in the Annecy area developed into allegations that company and labor-management representatives attempted to pressure or influence a labor inspector. The matter involved administrative investigations, union protests, criminal proceedings against labor inspector Laura Pfeiffer and a whistleblower, and extensive debate about institutional pressure and whistleblower protection. The Lyon Court of Appeal confirmed Pfeiffer’s conviction in October 2019 after earlier appellate and cassation proceedings.
