Handgun safety-defect recall and class-action settlement
Taurus voluntarily recalled approximately one million handguns made between 1997 and 2013 and agreed to a settlement reported at nearly $39 million. The affected group included nine models, among them several Millennium pistols, PT-609, PT-640 and PT-24/7. The action concerned alleged safety defects and became the company’s most prominent publicly documented product-liability controversy.
