Right-of-first-refusal controversy
A revised Tapas terms of service required creators who wanted to sell rights to works hosted on the platform to offer those rights to Tapas first. Users criticized the clause as potentially restricting creator control. Tapas said it was intended to protect creators and help them negotiate better opportunities, but removed the requirement on May 18, 2017 after the backlash.
