During the Marcos period, seven Talugtug residents were reportedly taken from their homes after being accused of involvement in anti-dictatorship resistance. Five—Gavino Cenese, David Vergel, Jaime Besis, Fernando Sardan, and Dominador Ramos—were killed, while Severino Bela and Gaudencio Dulay were never seen again.
