Taj Mahal Palace becomes a target of the Mumbai attacks

Lashkar-e-Taiba attackers targeted the hotel as part of the coordinated November 2008 attacks in Mumbai. Hostages were taken and Indian commandos fought the attackers for three days. At least 31 people died at the hotel, and the building suffered extensive damage. The event was a terrorist attack rather than a corporate scandal, but it is a defining crisis in the property’s history.
