Credit-card tipping controversy
Strada was criticized after reports that waiting staff were pressured to encourage card rather than cash tips, because card tips were used to subsidise wages while cash tips went directly to staff. Tragus subsequently reviewed its policy in connection with tipping-law changes and stated that tips would be distributed through payroll, subject to a ten percent deduction from card or debit-card tips for administrative and related costs, with tips paid in addition to the National Minimum Wage.
