Stingray Tours fined over worker misclassification
Stingray Tours was ordered by a court to pay more than $90,000 to workers after it was found they were employees rather than independent contractors, entitling them to paid vacation and sick leave under the Labour Act. The company was ordered to pay CI$86,230 in vacation pay and CI$4,080 in sick leave pay, and the Department of Labour and Pensions is continuing an investigation into non-payment of pensions.
