Allegations concerning inferior seed sold to Black farmers
A group of Black farmers alleged that Stine deliberately sold them inferior seed. The complaint referenced testing that allegedly found a zero-percent germination rate in seed represented as genetically pure and nearly 100 percent germinable. Stine denied the allegations, called the suit without merit and factually unsupportable, and said an internal investigation found no supporting evidence. The case was dismissed in 2020.
