Alleged diversion of Banpará funds
Banpará was the center of allegations that over US$10 million had been siphoned from the bank into accounts controlled by Pará governor Jader Barbalho and associates. The allegations involved the bank's chief executive and financial director; both were later prohibited from working in the financial sector for ten and three years, respectively.
