Embezzlement allegations involving former executives
Federal prosecutors charged former president Jerry Ruzicka and four others with allegedly taking more than $20 million from Starkey and a supplier. Ruzicka was convicted in 2018 on eight charges, including mail and wire fraud, and sentenced to seven years in prison. Court proceedings also involved scrutiny of testimony by William Austin, with some statements struck from the record.
