Melissa Barrera dismissal and Scream 7 controversy
Spyglass dismissed Melissa Barrera from Scream 7 after social-media comments about the Israel–Gaza war. The company said the posts involved antisemitism, hate speech and unacceptable references to genocide, ethnic cleansing and Holocaust distortion. The decision generated debate over corporate content standards, political expression and the treatment of public commentary by film performers. Jenna Ortega later left the project, and the film was substantially restructured.
