Executive compensation and layoffs controversy
During the period surrounding Spansion’s large-scale layoffs and Chapter 11 filing, reporting questioned a proposed performance-based incentive for chief executive John Kispert and an increase in manager compensation while the company was attempting to reduce costs. A later settlement addressed claims brought on behalf of former employees whose employment ended around the February 2009 layoffs.
