Dioxin contamination crisis
Indupa Solvay was implicated in a dioxin contamination incident after supplying heavily contaminated lime milk used in Brazilian citrus-pulp pellets. The pellets entered European cattle-feed channels, and monitoring detected increased dioxin levels in dairy and meat samples. Later studies reported continuing contamination concerns around landfill and downstream areas near the plant.
