Reported Chinese government payment arrangement
The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project reported that Solomon Star received almost US$140,000 from the Chinese government in exchange for pledges to promote coverage of China's generosity and its intentions. The report raised concerns about transparency and editorial independence; the supplied sources do not document a confirmed legal finding or regulatory penalty.
