Financial-crime conviction of former owner
Former owner and chief executive Jukka Pekka Edvard Nieminen was convicted by a district court of serious financial crimes connected with Effect Investment Oy and Snacky. The case concerned withdrawals of approximately €1.1 million from company accounts, nearly €600,000 in cash obtained from restaurants, inadequate accounting, unpaid bills and false claims about chain expansion. He was initially sentenced to five and a half years in prison and ordered to pay nearly €3 million; the court of appeal later reduced the prison term to four and a half years and lowered the monetary amounts.
