After users raised concerns about information collected through the Gouzheng service on Skyworth TVs, Skyworth said Coolita Network had only collected necessary data and that other collection was unauthorized. Skyworth said it disabled the service, ordered deletion of data it described as unlawfully obtained, apologized over unclear privacy-policy notices, and said it would improve its privacy policy.

In July 2006, a Hong Kong court sentenced founder Huang Hongsheng and his younger brother Huang Peisheng to six years in prison each in a case involving theft and conspiracy to defraud, among other charges, related to Skyworth funds.
