Columbus City Attorney sues operators of illegal east Columbus bars Skyboxxx Lounge and The Social Lounge
Lawsuit filed
Columbus City Attorney Zach Klein announced Friday that his office filed a lawsuit against the operators of three illegal bars in east Columbus, known as the Skyboxxx Lounge or The Social Lounge at the Crossroads Shopping Center. The suit alleges the businesses continued operating after their liquor permits were revoked in August and cites a two-year history of 66 police reports including shootings, assaults, drugs, street takeovers and underage parties; a late-September covert police investigation observed staff selling alcohol illegally. A preliminary injunction hearing is scheduled for Oct. 14.
Stated objective. Hold the bar owners accountable and step in to clean up or shut down establishments where operators break the law and allow violence and criminal conduct, with safety as the top priority.
