Assassination of Vice Mayor Rosita Villafuerte
Vice Mayor Rosita Villafuerte was assassinated on 11 April 1984 during a UNIDO campaign rally in Manlubang. A barangay captain and an audience member also died. The military blamed communist rebels, while residents questioned that account. The killing occurred amid local political tensions and reported efforts to move numerous barangay leaders away from the Marcos administration's party.
