Gotanda fraudulent land transaction
Sekisui House attempted to purchase a roughly 2,000-square-metre Tokyo site from a person impersonating the owner. Forged identification was used, registration failed, and the company reported a loss of approximately ¥5.5 billion. Ten people were later convicted in connection with fraud and document-forgery offenses. The incident also produced an internal governance dispute and subsequent shareholder litigation.
