Quebec firebombing attacks
Three Second Cup locations in Montreal were firebombed. Rhéal Mathieu was convicted in connection with the attacks, while the Brigade d'autodéfense du français claimed responsibility and said the stores were targeted because the business used the English name Second Cup. Some Quebec locations subsequently changed their signage to Les cafés Second Cup.
