Bil Mar Foods contaminated-meat case
Sara Lee pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor and agreed to pay $4.4 million after contaminated meat linked to its Bil Mar Foods division was associated with at least 15 deaths and six miscarriages in 1998. The resolution emphasized that the division had not knowingly distributed the tainted meat.
