Animal Welfare Act allegations and USDA settlement
USDA inspections led to three animal-welfare complaints concerning alleged mistreatment at a Santa Cruz Biotechnology facility in California. In May 2016, the company settled with the USDA, reportedly paying $3.5 million and agreeing to revocation of its polyclonal-antibody dealer license effective December 31, 2016.
