Hallandsås tunnel chemical leak
Rhône-Poulenc supplied Rhoca-Gil for the Hallandsås tunnel construction project in Sweden. The sealant leaked into groundwater and was associated with damage to livestock, the surrounding environment and workers. The company was criticized for failing to adequately communicate risks connected with acrylamide in the product. In 2001, the managing director of the former Rhône-Poulenc Sweden was convicted of violating the Swedish Chemical Products Act.
