Daiwa Bank New York trading-loss scandal
Toshihide Iguchi, a Daiwa bond trader in New York, generated approximately $1.1 billion in unauthorized bond-market losses and falsified bank records. Daiwa was criminally indicted, ordered to leave the U.S. market and closed its American operations in 1996. The incident predates Resona Holdings but concerns a principal predecessor institution.
