Dispute over Hong Kong Journalists Association fundraising dinner
The Hong Kong Journalists Association said it postponed its annual fundraising dinner after Regal Hongkong Hotel cited a power-supply issue. The hotel reportedly declined to reschedule or provide alternative accommodation. An undercover journalist later challenged the stated explanation, leading to speculation that the hotel had been pressured to assist conduct linked by critics to the erosion of press freedom. The available account records allegations and controversy, not a definitive adjudication of wrongdoing.
