RED Air Flight 203 landing-gear collapse
On June 21, 2022, an RED Air MD-82 landing at Miami International Airport suffered a left main landing-gear collapse, struck a communications tower, and caught fire. All 140 people aboard survived, at least three were reportedly hospitalized with minor injuries, and the aircraft was written off. The NTSB attributed the accident to shimmy-dampener failure that allowed extreme vibrations to cause failure of the lower torque link.
