    Foodcorp bread price-fixing case

    The South African Competition Commission found that Foodcorp had participated with other major bread producers in coordinated conduct to increase bread prices by approximately 30 to 35 cents per loaf between 1999 and 2007. Foodcorp voluntarily paid an R88 million penalty in December 2012. The conduct predated RCL Foods' acquisition of Foodcorp, but the case is part of the history of the acquired business.
