    Children of Creuse affair

The relocation of 1,630 children from Réunion to rural areas of metropolitan France between 1963 and 1982 became a major public controversy. Former children and advocates alleged that the programme separated minors from their families without adequate consent and that some experienced neglect, exploitation or abuse. Litigation against the French state followed, although the principal claims were ultimately unsuccessful in French and European courts.
