Complaints and controversy over bakeware breakage

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reported receiving complaints from users whose Pyrex glassware had shattered over the preceding decade. The agency did not conclude that Pyrex bakeware presented a general safety concern. Later reporting and testing focused on the different thermal-shock behavior of borosilicate and tempered soda-lime glass, and on the importance of following product-use instructions.
