MxM News account-closure controversy
MxM News representatives alleged that PNC had terminated the company’s financial services because of political views. PNC said the closure was a good-faith error and reopened the account.

National Prearranged Services judgment
PNC, as successor to a bank that had served as trustee for National Prearranged Services, faced litigation concerning diverted prepaid-funeral funds. A $106 million judgment was affirmed by the Eighth Circuit in 2021.

National City mortgage-pricing settlement
Federal regulators alleged that National City, before its acquisition by PNC, charged Black and Hispanic borrowers higher mortgage prices. PNC was required to fund a $35 million settlement for affected borrowers.
