Chris Bruney responsible-gambling controversy
Following the suicide of customer Chris Bruney, media and regulatory scrutiny focused on the handling of his substantial losses, VIP bonuses and customer-protection procedures at sites associated with Playtech subsidiary PT Entertainment Services. The UK Gambling Commission identified serious systemic weaknesses in social-responsibility and anti-money-laundering processes. Playtech later agreed to pay £3.5 million to responsible-gambling charities after surrendering the relevant UK licenses.
