Frozen-yogurt classification and health-claim controversy
Pinkberry was criticized and faced legal scrutiny over whether its original product met California’s required level of bacterial cultures for the term frozen yogurt. Reports also criticized unsupported health benefits previously displayed in stores. Pinkberry subsequently altered its recipe, obtained the National Yogurt Association’s Live and Active Cultures Seal in 2008, and removed the disputed health claims.
