Lohmann Affair
Phoebus Film was revealed to have received secret funding from the German Navy Department for military propaganda and support of rearmament. The financing conflicted with restrictions imposed by the Treaty of Versailles and contributed to a political crisis in the Weimar Republic, including the resignation of Defence Minister Otto Gessler. The company went bankrupt after the controversy.
