Complaints against environmental activist dismissed
Four criminal complaints filed by Petroperú against Olivia Bisa Tirko were dismissed in March 2023. Bisa Tirko also reported threats, harassment and psychological violence directed at her and her children.

North Peruvian Pipeline environmental spill
An oil spill near the 177-kilometre mark of the North Peruvian Pipeline contaminated rivers and affected fishing and food supplies used by Amazonian communities. Activists demanded remediation and challenged the record of companies selected to handle toxic-waste cleanup.
