World Bank debarment of Pöyry Finland
Pöyry Finland and its subsidiaries were debarred from World Bank-financed projects for one year after the World Bank identified four cases of fraudulent practices connected with a 2008 Vietnam water-sector project. Pöyry said the sanction concerned Pöyry Finland, a successor to Pöyry Environment Oy, and did not apply to Pöyry PLC or other subsidiaries. The company also stated that no unlawful conduct by Pöyry Finland or its employees had been identified in the matter.

NGO complaint concerning the Xayaburi hydropower project
Several NGOs filed a complaint with Finland's Ministry of Employment and the Economy concerning Pöyry PLC and its Swiss subsidiary Pöyry Energy AG. The complaint concerned Pöyry's technical review of the controversial Xayaburi Dam project in Laos and questions about compliance with Mekong River Commission guidelines. The ministry later concluded that Pöyry complied with OECD guidelines and had acted to mitigate environmental impacts, while noting that Pöyry was not responsible for the project's environmental and social impact assessment or the final decision to proceed.
