White Island eruption involving ship-associated visitors
During Ovation of the Seas's call at Tauranga, 47 people connected with the ship were visiting Whakaari when it erupted. The disaster caused 22 deaths and 25 injuries. Royal Caribbean kept the ship in port to assist recovery efforts and offered passenger refunds.
