Disputed Guardian reporting on humanitarian activities
The Guardian published allegations concerning Operation Blessing volunteers and the organization's claimed role in relief work. The newspaper later apologized, retracted substantial accusations, acknowledged that it had omitted a report clearing the organization of wrongdoing, and agreed to donate to Philippine typhoon relief.

Rwanda refugee airlift and Zaire aircraft controversy
Pat Robertson solicited donations for airlifts of Rwandan refugees to Zaire. Reporting later alleged that aircraft used in the relief operation also transported diamond-mining equipment for African Development Corporation, a venture associated with Robertson and Mobutu Sese Seko. A 1999 report found the appeal misleading but did not determine that it was an intentional fraud attempt.
