Openclipart's website went offline in April 2019 amid reports of a distributed-denial-of-service attack. The incident was also connected in public reporting to identity-theft concerns involving founder Jon Phillips. The project subsequently planned a rebuilt codebase and a community-oriented hosting arrangement.
