Controversy over proposed WRNI sale
WBUR announced that WRNI and WXNI would be put up for sale without advance notice. Rhode Island officials, local supporters, and The Providence Journal criticized the decision, and Attorney General Patrick Lynch opened an investigation. Boston University later delayed and withdrew the sale process; the investigation was closed in 2006.
