EOS Committee inspections and alleged retention of personal information

Following a complaint from people who believed they had been under surveillance, Norway's Parliamentary Intelligence Oversight Committee conducted unannounced inspections at the service's Lutvann headquarters and an Oslo facility. Media reports alleged that the service had stored information on more than 400 Norwegian diplomats, officials, sources, and prospective sources. The episode raised concerns about privacy, surveillance powers, data retention, and democratic oversight of intelligence agencies.
