  1. 2017

    Improper safety inspection procedures

The Shonan Plant was among Nissan facilities reported in connection with improper vehicle safety inspection procedures. The issue concerned the integrity of inspection practices rather than the technical design of a particular Nissan Shatai vehicle.

  2. 1987

    Utoro land dispute and sale

Nissan Shatai became involved in a long-running and controversial dispute over land in the Utoro district of Uji, Kyoto. Korean residents who had been forced to relocate there for wartime airfield construction remained on the site after the war. After Nissan Shatai acquired the land, the company treated the residents as unauthorized occupants and attempted to secure their eviction. The residents resisted, and Nissan Shatai ultimately sold the property to a real-estate company in 1987.
