    A group of 361 voice actors sued Nippon Animation and its recording-production subsidiary Onkyo Eizo System over royalties associated with DVD releases. A 2003 judgment imposed liability on Onkyo Eizo but dismissed the claim against Nippon Animation. The Tokyo High Court in 2004 held both companies liable for 87 million yen, and Japan’s Supreme Court upheld the ruling in 2005.
